Steven Roberts is a marketer, author and columnist. A certified data protection officer and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, he writes regularly for national and international publications on the topics of marketing, strategy and data protection. His articles and commentary have featured in Business and Finance, Business Plus, the Irish Examiner, Marketing Week, Irish Compliance Quarterly and Catalyst. For the past three years, he has contributed a monthly column to Marketing magazine.
Steven is head of marketing and data protection lead at Griffith College and sits on its marketing, strategy implementation and GDPR committees. Over the past twenty years he has held senior marketing roles in Ireland and overseas. He is a non-executive director of the Discovery Programme and chair of its communications committee. Steven currently serves as vice-chairperson of the Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland’s data protection and information security working group, and was a judge for the 2019 Marketer of the Year Award.
Steven holds a BA (Hons) in History from Trinity College, a MSc in Tourism Management from Technological University Dublin, a Professional Certificate in Date Protection from University College Dublin, a Mini-MBA in Marketing, and a Professional Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. He is currently studying for a postgraduate qualification in governance at the Institute of Public Administration.
He is particularly interested in the intersection between marketing, strategy and data privacy.
He lives in Dublin with his wife and two children.
