I grew up in the rural South, where everything begins with a story.

Mine has been a charmed life - Married to Maggie for 49 years, father of an amazing and courageous daughter and living on a magical piece of land in the wild forest of the NW Florida panhandle.

But storytelling has always been my passion. We've been a songwriting and performing duo called Lucky Mud and our touring has taken us from all across America into Canada and Europe with our original music.

But late nights, long rides, time sequestered in a room somewhere, anywhere, all this has been my time to write stories. Novels, short stories, scores of scraps of future novels.

My first novel, A Thousand Bridges, which came to life as a hardcover novel with a starred review from Publishers Weekly (who also chose the novel as one of their Top Ten First Fiction) introduced me to the world of writers' conferences and book signings and another reason to tour.
