I’m a 52 year old single dad with 2 wonderful children. I feel when we get to this point in life we have to look back at our life experiences to realize why we are who we are today. I wrote a book about a very difficult time in my life, that I feel has made me the father and person I am today. I am not perfect by any means, but I’m a stronger person and a better father because of that experience. My book is about meeting a woman in my early twenties that suffered from mental illness. I ended up marrying and having a child with this woman.
I take you the reader on a 7-8 year journey from the time I met her up to the point where I had to protect my son from his own mom. There were many signs early on that I missed about her condition. It wasn’t until her condition progressively got worse as she got older that I realized I had to do whatever it took to protect my son.
My book also points out flaws in the system that ultimately led to my drastic decisions. We hear a lot about people who suffer from mental illness, and I am in no way targeting anyone who suffers from mental illness. I just thought it might be helpful for others to read a story about how it can effect their love ones.
Me and my son preserved through this time. And I’m here to tell that story.
