Marjorie A Schaffer

Dr. Marjorie Schaffer, Ph.D., R.N., is Professor of Nursing Emerita, at Bethel University, St. Paul, MN. She holds a doctorate in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota and has worked in public health and mental health nursing. As a Fulbright scholar in Norway, she completed research on end-of-life decision making. Dr. Schaffer received the Jim Parker Leadership Award from the Minnesota Department of Health for the Public Health Intervention Wheel evidence update. Her experience with parenting an adult daughter who lives with bipolar disorder compelled her to complete a qualitative research project about family experiences with mental illness. She has volunteered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, teaching Family-to-Family classes; serves on the Hennepin County Adult Mental Health Advisory Council; and volunteers as an ambassador with Mental Health Connect.
