John Dyson

John Dyson was born in a mining village called Lepton in Yorkshire, England and grew up in England before moving to New York when he was 32. His father was a clerk at the local colliery and his mother was a housewife. John was educated at Hull University and graduated with a degree in Pure Mathematics.

John’s influences include British authors Alan Bennett, Dennis Johnston, Carl Hiaasen and Edward Abbey. He learned story from attending Robert McKee's Story Seminar. He has also taken writing classes at Gotham Writers Workshop.

John is a member of The Writers Room in New York City. He also attended The Writer’s Digest Pitch Conference in New York in August, 2020.
