Doug Mendel

Born and raised in Northern California, Doug Mendel's passion for firefighting started in 1997 when he was a volunteer firefighter in Summit County, Colorado, where he lived for over 20 years. Doug has published four previous books, Chuck the Firetruck Gets a Call, Chuck the Firetruck Goes To The Pound, Cambodia Fire, and The Adventures of Carrie the Koala and Karl the Kangaroo. In addition to writing, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and road cycling. Doug currently lives in Washington, DC with his wife, Thea, and their two Portuguese Water Dogs, Piper and Toula.
