Tom Pierce

From a start in life clutching a pencil to make that magic mark on paper, onto Hornsey Art College and studios in the West End. It looked like a full career in graphics, but no, a major change into a blue serge uniform and the police service: art suddenly lost its dominant place in life. After a long period of involvement in early television coverage of serious crime with enquiries featuring numerous murders, some of which were cause célèbre, it was time to retire into yes, art and graphics once more with a focus on painting and exhibitions. One of Tom's many interests has been the stage where he has appeared in principle roles. But then Tom Pierce was hit by a family tragedy - suddenly losing his brother - the resultant emotions ran deep, mixing in his mind with the left-over imagery of murder and criminal skulduggery, to finally reflect into exciting words on the printed page.

Tom Pierce has written 5 novels to date using the character of Matthew Rawlings, a retired Detective Superintendent whose casual interest into matters that were not his concern carries both him and his wife Beth into stories full of intrigue and potential disaster.

The latest novel 'The Late Developer' is available now at Amazon, this is another serious thriller, lifting the lid on the murky world of planning, ‘brown envelopes’ and corruption. On a hill, a wild young man, jolted from his enjoyment of first sex, comes face to face with shotguns loaded with death and menace as a result of which Matthew reluctantly finds himself embroiled in a life threatening situation which takes all his courage and acumen to survive.
