Nicki Rae

Hello, my name is Nicki Rae, I'm a children's picture book author and illustrator, and my very first book "The Dust Bunnies" is set to be released very soon. I'm very inspired by the media I consumed as a child, including the films of Studio Ghibli and Disney, the colorful television shows of Cartoon Network, and the beautiful storytelling of video games like The Legend of Zelda, as well as my own personal experiences. I'm entirely self taught in the fields of art and writing, a point I'm very proud of, and hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed making them.

On The Dust Bunnies:

The Dust Bunnies is my first book-child, so it's very precious to me. Partially inspired by the Soot Sprites in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro, they are playful little balls of fluff and stuff that leave little trails of dust everywhere they go. As a youngster, I was hard pressed to be cleanly despite all my parents attempts to teach me it's importance, so I'd like to think of this book as a tool for parents to initiate the conversation of cleaning and cleanliness to their children.
