John W. Patterson

I have been reading, watching and writing science fiction, dark fantasy and horror for several decades. My very first exposure to science fiction and related genres was via TV, movies and comic books. After much later discovering Philip K. Dick and H. P. Lovecraft — I collected and read all their works. I then decided to write my own short stories.

They were quickly published at first online and then in very limited run print publications. My very first Lovecraft inspired creature I created — was called Nycrama — and has been officially recognized and added to the Cthulhu Mythos Pantheon. All that reading, my professional work and even my UFO investigations find their way into my writing. I am also inspired by the writings of Clark Ashton Smith, Michael Shea, Jack Vance, Iain M. Banks and Robert Charles Wilson.

I bring a science teaching and research background to my stories and oddly enough, I was once a UFO investigator and a State Section director for MUFON. Yes, I actually did that sort of thing until strange, paranoid phone calls mysteriously reached my home. I retired from UFO research after that.

I am currently a recording musician releasing various genre works under the moniker SourceCodeX. For fun, I create ambient presets for iPad synthesizer apps. I also have a very active and popular YouTube music channel. I am a retired professional music reviewer.

I really hope you enjoy my stories. They are quite different from what you might expect -- my being sort of an oddball analytic thinker. I really enjoyed writing them. I am based in the USA.
