Barry Lee Swanson

Barry Lee Swanson is an author, poet, United States Army veteran, and assistant professor emeritus from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He received his B.A. in English literature from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master's degree in educational administration from Western Illinois University. After a career in public education as an English teacher, coach, and school administrator, Swanson served as a full-time lecturer in the College of Education at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he earned his Doctor of Education degree. He is past president of the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association and a founding member of Galesburg Public Art Commission. He is currently in the process of writing his second novel and publishing his complete poems.

Barry and his wife, Gail, reside on Lake Norman in North Carolina. They have three children and five grandchildren.
