Derek W Vaillant

Derek W. Vaillant is a Professor of Communication and Media and Professor of History (affiliate faculty) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He researches and teaches the social and cultural history of modern media and communication, particularly the history of radio, sound, and music. Professor Vaillant is active in the Radio Preservation Task Force of the Library of Congress and the Great Lakes Association for Sound Studies (GLASS). He is currently completing a book about the history of race and U.S. broadcasting with a follow up to ACROSS THE WAVES in the works.
