Cynthia Lanius

Cynthia is a retired high school mathematics teacher. One of the joys of her life is teaching ladies' and children's bible classes. Over the last ten years or so she has been writing books designed to help us be better servants of God. First was a ladies' study entitled "Drawing Near to God." Then recently she and her husband David have published two other books: "Glorifying God through the Psalms" and just out, "Striving to be Like Jesus". David has been a gospel preacher for over fifty years, working in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Texas. He and Cynthia have two children and six grandchildren.. They now live in the woods in Middle Tennessee and worship with the Creekview church of Christ in Gallatin, TN where David serves as an elder.

David and Cynthia have just finished their new book --"Striving to be Like Jesus". What a great joy it was to devote more than three years studying the attributes and actions of Jesus and meditating on how to make them our own. Now that the book is published, David is preparing to use it as the study book for our adult class at the Creekview church. With 52 topics it will be a one-year study, Lord willing. This study is designed to help us realize our purpose in life: “For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps” (1 Peter 2:21).

The lessons are structured to show first how Jesus demonstrated each trait and then how we can. For instance, the first topic is ACKNOWLEDGE HIS DEITY. First we look at Jesus' claims of deity. Then examines what it means for us to believe in Jesus as the Son of God.

Look at all the topics:

ACKNOWLEDGE HIS DEITY .
