C.M. West writes dark-hearted, snarky crime fiction featuring detective / artist Tru James. In the tradition of the crime writing duo Ellery Queen, Carol Elkovich and Mark Butler write together under a pseudonym. They both hold degrees from California College of the Arts. Carol also holds a masters degree from UC Berkeley. As visual artists, they draw from the eccentric art subcultures of the San Francisco Bay Area where they live.
