Irene Bernadette Sutherland

Mahina Chronicles' author Irene Sutherland takes readers on earth, sea, and sky adventures through the use of color and whimsy. She cultivates the love of travel with unique combinations of images. Her characters are inspired by people and places that she has known and adored, as well as some that challenged her along life's surprising journey. Her intent is to inspire readers to passionately live their dreams through nature's diverse beauty.

Irene grew up in suburban Canada, studied Business and Tourism, backpacked around the world, bicycle toured, and open ocean sailed in the South Pacific. She now lives on the slopes of Haleakala, Maui, with her Australian husband, as well as their son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. Her practices include yoga, hula dancing, painting acrylic house murals, and mosaic tiling. Irene loves tour guiding and is the first one to volunteer for a snorkeling or hiking excursion with visitors, and any of her stepchildren or Godchildren who are willing.
