Ismail Rifaat

Ismail Rifaat is an architect and urban planner with a distinguished record of projects and competitions both in the USA and abroad. His work as an author relates to his doctoral thesis at the FIT in Zurich in the early 1960s, which involved research in theory of architecture, aesthetics, and philosophy. Generally, his books display the evolution of serious thoughts over several decades since then.

Rifaat authored five books to date. The first "Tychiformation", describes the circumstances that led him to coin the word, and what it signifies; the book probes the foundations of progressive thought and potential action. The four books that followed further explore and promote potential progressive action, with the goal of improving the chances for human survival and well being. They cover issues ranging from civic organization, to human mortality and the relations between men and women. His last book "2084" is a short story contemplating potential future utopian conditions.
