Igor Plohl

Igor Plohl is a teacher and writer who became paraplegic in 2008. While repairing the roof after a severe storm, he fell off a ladder and broke his spine. Despite his disability, he is completely independent.

His writing career began quite by accident. After the near-fatal fall, his students prepared a charity event for him. In gratitude, Plohl wrote a fairy tale about a brave lion and thus presented how he wanted to live, despite his disability.

He likes to travel in his free time. In 2019, he went on a safari in Tanzania. He loves sports, especially cycling with a hand-powered bicycle.

He is employed as a hospital teacher at the Pediatric Clinic in Maribor, Slovenia. He devotes much of his time visiting schools, where with the help of his books, he raises children's awareness of disability. His performances are inspiring and optimistic.
