I am the author at Wilderswood Storytellers, a Lancashire lad in my sixties who writes children's book as a hobby and I have no children. Over the past 5 years I have enjoyed the process of creating short stories for children and getting them illustrated. All starting after a countryside walk on the moors near my home, it was Spring and I spotted a single lamb in a field surrounded by sheep. It was the first lamb and had no other lambs to play with and I thought about that lamb wandering off and looking for other playmates. Those thoughts became my first children's book "The First Lamb".

I posted an advert on Facebook for an illustrator and received a reply from Stef who lived in the next town. We met up and discussed the images for the book, she quickly produced some wonderful but simple watercolour illustrations. After we published "The First Lamb" we started on our second book "The First Frog", a similar story but the play aspect was reversed. All the way through our discussions about the book we found we had very similar ideas and images that we wanted.

During the process Stef suggested writing a story about the wolf from "The First Lamb" book and we quickly started working on our next book "The Silent Wolf". Within a short period of time we had produced three illustrated children's book that were available on Amazon.

Stef moved to my home town and set up home with her partner Alex. We were about to start on our fourth book "The Otter Who Would Not Swim" when Stef fell pregnant and suddenly had no time to produce illustrations for me.

So I posted another Facebook advert asking for an illustrator and found one in my home town. Her name was Alicia and we started working on "The Lost Rabbit".

Alicia is a single mother with two young children and she found time to create the illustrations for “The Lost Rabbit”. The book was published in time for World Book Day and her daughter took a copy to school, on that day, to read out to the class.

For the last two years I have been without an illustrator and I am still looking for new ones. If there are any illustrators out there who live in the United Kingdom, particularly in North West England, please get in touch with me to discuss the possibility of working together on future projects.

Coming up in the next few months are three new books. Melissa the Honeybee, Cyril the Squirrel and Mole Digs To Australia. These books with not be illustrated but if an illustrator or illustrators come forward we could possibly see picture book versions.
