Stephanie Goloway

Stephanie Goloway is a lifelong advocate for play, Story, and the imagination. Her winding path through the Woods of Work led her to a rewarding career teaching preschool, elementary school, and college. Along the way, she followed breadcrumbs around a bend where she created and coordinated programs for adjudicated teens; she also explored the mystical cave of children’s librarianship and storytelling. She paused to dive into glistening pools of research about fairytales for both her master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation to discover why these ancient tales of magic continue to enchant children.

With a focus on supporting children’s resilience, creative thinking, and play, Dr. Goloway believes that joy and the imagination are keys to the treasure chest of lifelong learning. She is Professor Emeritus of Education at the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh, where she received the NISOD Award for Teaching Excellence.

She is now happily ever retired and lives in a fairytale cottage on the shores of Lake Erie. She reads, writes, plays, and imagines new projects that will make the world a more sparkly and serene place for children and those who love them.
