Cecil Dean Ghormley

Cecil Ghormley’s parents left their Oklahoma roots in the midst of the Great Depression, taking their young family to Texas in search of a better life. Always a high achiever, Cecil made the most of his opportunities. Basketball scholarships at South Texas Junior College and Southwestern University paved the way for completion of his bachelor’s degree, which was followed by a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi. A dedicated teacher early in his career, Cecil branched out into real estate as a way to supplement his income, eventually leaving teaching to concentrate on real estate full time as a broker and an investor. His interest in education and in public service continued to be shown through his involvement in serving 15 years on the Pasadena Independent School District Board of Trustees, in service organizations such as Rotary International, and in many community and church projects over the years.
