Having enjoyed writing mystery stories at junior school, I continued to write short stories into adulthood as a hobby. However, following retirement I decided to use the winters productively to see if I could write a full length novel.
The result is a series of Ian Caxton thrillers!
The first book, ‘The Opportunity’ was published in 2021 and has received excellent reviews.
The second book, ‘The Challenge’, was published on the 7th April 2022. ‘The Challenge’ continues to follow Ian Caxton’s adventures, his personal mental conflict and the challenges that continue to occur in his quest to achieve personal wealth beyond his wildest dreams!
The third book, 'The Decision' was published on the 1st September 2022.
The fourth book, 'The Gamble' was published on the 11th May 2023.
The fifth book, 'The Result' was published on the 16th April 2024.
The sixth book 'The Reprisal' was published on the 24th July 2025.
The seventh book 'The Secret' is to be published in 2026. Watch out for the publication date!
The Lady Pirates, was published on the 12th September 2024. It is an historical part fiction adventure story, set in the 18th century about two extraordinary women, Mary Read and Anne Bonny, who choose to reject their humdrum lives and seek daring pirating adventures. Along the way, they find themselves in challenging situations and acquire wealth beyond their wildest dreams.

* I've read all four Ian Caxton books so far and feel TV is missing a real opportunity for producing a popular and successful series. Fake or Fortune attracts a loyal audience and the Caxton novels explore a similar theme in the international art world.
It only needs a producer to pick-up on the opportunity. BT.
* The Lady Pirates. A Captivating Read. 5*. I absolutely loved this book. Loved that this focused around the lives of Anne and Mary, you find yourself getting fully immersed into their world, desperately willing them on with the sometimes awful situations they find themselves in. Hi, I’m Eleanor. I’m a full-time university student who is obsessed with books, and wants to share this with people who feel the same way. 'The Opportunity' was very different from what I expected it to be, but I still really loved it. I must admit I found some of the art world explanations a little tedious, however I am probably a little more knowledgeable than the average reader of this book would be.
The characters were very well written, and this book definitely revolves around its characters and how they react when put in a series of different situations. Victor or in particular I found an interesting character who certainly seems to have a lot of potential within the art dealing world.
I absolutely raced through this book, and I think any reader who loves art would enjoy this book. If you’re UK based and have watched the BBC show Fake or Fortune (it’s great, I would also recommend) and enjoyed it, this book is 100% something you would also like.

"I love thrillers so I knew this was a book I would like. The only reason I say it's an okay read is just because I am used to faster paced thrillers but this was really well written with a good plot line that kept hold of your attention as you explored the underbelly of the art world. It is described really well and keeps you on track of the plot line , again the only reason for the 4 star not 5 star is just that I personally prefer a bit more of a fast pace.
