Joe Lee is an artist, cartoonist (his Saturday editorial cartoon has run in the Bloomington Herald-Times for the last 19 years), author, and illustrator. His books on Dante, Greek Mythology and the History of Clowns (he is also a former circus clown having graduated from Ringling Bros. Clown College and travelled with several different circuses) were published by For Beginners Publishing (where he also illustrated another dozen titles for their ongoing series). In 2015 U. S. Games Systems published his deck “The LeGrande Circus & Sideshow Tarot”. He has recently exhibited a graphic novel on the theme of “Creation” with the Religion & Spirituality in the Arts Seminar in conjunction with the Christian Theological Center and Butler University in Indianapolis (April/2016), “Professor Animalia’s Menagerie of Struggling Species” a collaboration of paintings with his wife Bess shown in Bloomington, IN with the Blueline Gallery (April/2018) and in Indianapolis, IN at the Harrison Art Center (January/2019), and “Egg” at Untitled Light Gallery in Bloomington, In (June /2019). Joe Lee is currently working on a graphic biography of “Eva Kor, Survivor of the Auschwitz Twins Experiments” survivor to be published by the Red Lightning Press in October of 2021.
