Matthew Silver

M.M. Silver is a historian who specializes in Modern Jewish History, and other topics in modern history. He is a professor and works mostly in public colleges in Galilee, northern Israel, but has also taught during sabbatical years at a number of universities in North America and Europe. His books combine specialized academic research and a writing style accessible to wider audiences; they are written in English and Hebrew. He is currently publishing a two volume history of Galilee which relates to topics in theology and comparative religion, military history, Middle East politics in various periods, Judaism, Christianity and Islam -- this Galilee history project should be of interest to any reader curious about the background to the gospels, the Talmud, the rise of Islam, the Crusades, Kabbalah, Napoleon's campaign in the Middle East, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict's climax in 1948.
