I started writing at an early age. Inspired by one of my favorite entertainer's, I started a fictional series that today would fall into the Fan Fiction genre. I graduated into studying the works of other author's such as Judy Blume, The Sweet Valley High Series by Francine Pascal and V.C. Andrews. It wasn't until my teen years that I discovered Toni Morrison and my love for literature deepened into frequent trips to the New York Library. (I'm still an enthusiastic library card holder today!) The works of Toni Morrison and autobiographies such as I,Tina (by Tina Turner) and Giant Steps (by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) helped me to distinguish my own identity and soon my own voice. I declared English Literature rather than Pre-Med as my college major. I've never looked back and rarely regretted doing so. Writing can be tough as you learn to hone your voice and navigate the publishing landscape. I've found however that even if I did not have work published, I would still write because the story has to be born. Its impossible to live, for me, without writing. I hope you enjoy my first novel, Ring Envy, which was the result of years of thought about the young, single Christian's place in the congregation. The result is a story that my readers still love and ask 'what happens next to Karen?'! My current writing efforts, however, are not limited to the Christian Fiction/Romance genre. I started out focused on relationship themed works and have found that I absolutely love Science Fiction. I hope you are open to following along with me on this journey. As I challenge myself to write the stories that come my way, I hope my readers remain open to seeing me try different genres and formats of storytelling.
