I obtained my BA in Political Science at Istituto Universitario Orientale, Naples (Italy) in 2001 with a major in Middle Eastern politics and history. I moved to London where I completed my MA in Turkish Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies in 2002. I then moved back to Italy where in 2005 I completed a PhD in Asian Studies at my old university that in the meantime changed its name into Università degli Studi di Napoli l'Orientale. My theses were all on Muslim intellectuals or politicians, and I have eventually published several articles on them. In March 2013, I moved to the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul 29 Mayis University on the Anatolian side of Istanbul. Currently I'm the head of the department.
