Ron Seckinger is a former history professor, government analyst and senior executive, and private contractor. A native of Georgia, he used oral interviews, courthouse records, local newspapers, and other sources to recreate the lives of the Strouds, eight siblings born in Emanuel County, Georgia at the turn of the 20th century. A graduate of Duke University, he holds a doctorate in history from the University of Florida and a master's in public administration from Harvard University. Retired, he lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife.
