Ruth Blomquist

I have been in the world of UAVs since 2018, beginning when I interned for Dr. Tulinda Larsen. She introduced me to drones and the drone industry. She taught me how to fly and helped me study for my FAA Part 107. The first edition of these books helped me immensely in taking the Part 107 test. I will forever appreciate Dr. Larsen for giving me the opportunity of co-authoring “A Trustworthy Drone Business.” and “The Drone Hobbyist” books 2nd editions.

I am passionate about flying and teaching others about UAVs. I became a FAA Licensed (Part 107) Drone Pilot when I was 16. I started the first Drone Club at my High School, taught kids at community events how to fly and most importantly about the FAA rules that need to be followed by both Part107 Pilots and Drone Hobbyists. I am a Lifetime Girl Scout Member and earned the Girl Scout Gold Award. Currently, I am a college student at Utah State University, getting my degree in Aviation Technology Management with an emphasis in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). I have over 200 hours of flying all types of drones including quads and fixed wings. I am now learning to fly VTOL with AggieAir at Utah State University and I am an intern with ElectraFly.
