Susan Lintonsmith

Susan Lintonsmith went from climbing the corporate ladder to falling Under the Couch.

 

Susan has been a business executive for nearly 35 years, working for big brands and global companies, like Coca-Cola, Pizza Hut, Red Robin, Western Union, and more. She is a Board Member and previous CEO for Quiznos Subs and Elements Massage.

Like the mother in the Under The Couch series, Susan worked long hours and was always stressed. But she dreamed of one day writing books based on the stories she used to tell her sons when they were young. Both boys struggled with reading but loved stories. Susan made up tales about the two of them going on adventures "under the couch" where she could impart valuable life lessons through their fun yet dangerous experiences. Themes from her books include the importance of the brothers working together, self-acceptance and self-love, respecting nature, following rules, facing fears, and turning challenges like dyslexia or ADHD into strengths.

Seeing her boys struggle with focus issues and reading, her goal was to write a series that was easy to read (2nd or 3rd grade level) but fast-paced and engaging for a ten year old. Her goal is that all kids, especially those who struggle with reading, will enjoy the under-the-couch adventures the two brothers go on over a life-changing summer.

Susan lives in Colorado and loves the mountains, hiking, cooking, writing, and spending time with her husband Chris Linton-Smith, sons Spencer and Justin, and her two adorable dogs.
