Following a long international business career I retired to a life of golf, rowing (as in a rowing boat, not arguing) and writing. My first book was a memoir - Porridge in The Tallboy - that largely covered my time at boarding school in the 60s. My second book is - Who Ordered The Battered Cod - A Guide to the Business of Exporting. Having cut my author's teeth on a memoir and then a business guide book, it was time to write the debut novel. The result is Sunny Places Shady People, loosely based on my brother Andy's colourful life as a banker in The Cayman Islands in the early 1970's. In telling the tale of drug dealing, greed and romance I have not let the facts stand in the way of a good story. I hope you agree and enjoy reading it, and I will always welcome feedback and reviews. The sequel to ‘Sunny Places’ is The Maple Paradox, the second book in the Alastair Jardine Thriller series. Alistair is now in Canada working pro bono for the First Nations people on Vancouver Island. He seems to be upsetting some powerful people in the Canadian establishment. He and his wife and young daughter become targets. He resolves to uncover this major scandal with the help of his old friend Charles Ducharme, and Joseph Freeman a First Nations elder. Will they succeed, and who are the mysterious and ruthless members of the MAPLE group?
