Kay M. Bates and her husband reside in Washington State, along with their cat, Kitters. Bates once experienced severe vision impairment for several months due to a rare complication after eye surgery. This unusual experience opened the door to something she had not tried in many years: writing.

Now with full sight, Kay enjoys cooking, reading, snowboarding, going on nature walks, and playing musical instruments.
