David Wayne Brown is an author and the owner of Splash Creative, a full-service marketing and advertising firm located in Memphis, Tennessee.
He formerly was an award-winning journalist, including 11 years with The Kentucky Post, in Covington, Ky., four years as managing editor and then editor of the Birmingham Post-Herald, and five years as the executive editor of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis.
He has published two music magazines, has written essays, advertising copy and articles for a variety of periodicals and clients, and is the author of several books.
David also is a documentary filmmaker. His filmography includes two shorts on the Katrina hurricane and its aftermath and recovery efforts in New Orleans. He co-directed and produced the 2006 film, Of Good Courage, which tells the heroic story of a small East Texas town where the Columbia space shuttle and its astronauts came down after disintegrating on its return to earth. The hour-long documentary won three awards at film festivals in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
He has served on many nonprofit boards in Memphis, including as a founder of two. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors for Playhouse On The Square. He and his wife Deborah have five children and 12 grandchildren.
