Joyce Sackett

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, I attended Eastern High School when it functioned like a private girls' school, and graduated from Towson State Teachers College (now Towson University) with a degree in Art/Education. My husband John and I have been married for fifty-eight years and most of that time we worked as full-time staff for the Navigators, an international Christian organization. We have lived in the Netherlands and in the Philippines and now make our home on Blessing Hill in Baltimore County, Maryland. Thanks to our three married children, we have fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

I usually manage to grow most of our summer vegetables in a garden protected by a hedge that the deer have not yet tried to jump over. We keep a flock of chickens, too, for the great eggs they give us. I have given talks and presentations to gardening clubs, women's groups and weekend retreats on a variety of topics, often with a focus on spiritual issues. Gardening and painting are ways I delight in and enjoy God's creation. And speaking and writing give me opportunities to clarify for myself and share with others my gratefulness for what God has done in my life through HIs Son Jesus Christ.
