Dieter Gartelmann

Dieter Gartelmann came to Australia from Germany as a 13-year-old with his family and settled in Adelaide, South Australia. He learnt English, studied Engineering, married, has four grown up children. After 45-years in IT, he then studied Cyber Security online with Macquarie University for a graduate diploma, and loved it. Then cancer struck and the chemotherapy was responsible for getting a chemo brain, which meant it was hard to remember what he read an hour ago. He dismissed the idea of becoming the next cyber sleuth and gave in to a long-held desire to write novels. He beat covid-19 isolation by writing this first novel, Destiny Cottage, building on his immigrant and sailing experiences.

His second book Pandemic is 537 pages and was written in four months and four days. It was a race to get it out there whilst the pandemic was still a relevant interest in the USA. He started the book five weeks before his eightieth birthday.

Four subjects of post graduate study will not be wasted – is there a cyber-warfare book on the horizon?
