AFUA BRUCE is a leading public interest technologist who has spent her career working at the intersection of technology, policy, and society. Her career has spanned the government, non-profit, private, and academic sectors, as she has held senior science and technology positions at DataKind, the White House, the FBI, IBM, and New America. Afua has a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Purdue University, as well as an MBA from the University of Michigan. As a AAAS If/Then Ambassador, Afua inspires girls and children of color to imagine how they can use STEM skills to empower communities and advance social justice. She has partnered with a number of science museums across the US, Goldieblox, and Mission Unstoppable to carry out this goal; a statue of Afua exists alongside statues of 125 other women STEM professionals in the If/Then Statue Exhibit.
