Hello I’m Liz Bates and welcome to my author page.

My books are all designed to support the mental and emotional health of children and young people but everything in the books is just as relevant to adults as it is to children. Lots of people tell me, “this applies to me too”.

All my books are best read as a 2 part set. The children’s storybook and then the adult guidebook which has all the information, session plans, ideas and activities that relate to the storybook.

I have worked in education all my life. First as a drama teacher – which I loved – through to being a Deputy Headteacher & safeguarding lead, and finally as an Advisor leading on mental health, emotional health and wellbeing.

I still work independently as an advisor and trainer, supporting schools in all aspects of safeguarding and wellbeing and I love being asked to go into schools to work with staff, developing their knowledge and skills around attachment, creating emotionally safe schools, behaviour, the right to feel safe (my version of anti-bullying) and Protective Behaviours.
