Mike Whitehead

Mike Whitehead has been a writer and editor for more than four decades. The Weekend is his debut novel.

Mr. Whitehead decided to pursue a career in journalism while he was at Forest Park High School in Beaumont, Texas. He attended The University of North Texas, and went on to be the editor of the student newspaper, The North Texas Daily.

His distinguished newspaper career included writing and editing positions at The Dallas Morning News and The Orange County (California) Register. Mr. Whitehead joined the Gannett Corporation as managing editor of The San Bernardino County Sun in California. He then became the executive editor of The Salem Statesman-Journal in Oregon, as well as serving as executive editor of The Times in Shreveport, La. After more than thirty years in print media, Mr. Whitehead became publisher and editor of SB Magazine in Shreveport.

He and his wife, Martha, continue to live in Shreveport.
