Gary Carmo

Gary is a retired senior software engineer. He has always enjoyed creating photographs and videos with special effects.

When his grandson was two years old, they teamed up and made their first video together. It was about a grandpap who had magical powers and used them to give his grandson a special Christmas gift. The video was called “Grandpap’s Apprentice.” It was the basis for chapter one in Gary’s first book, Grandpap’s Apprentice and The Magic Portal.

As his grandson grew older, they would sit and draw characters and scenes on large desktop paper pads. This gave Gary the idea to write a story about the apprentice who used his grandpap’s magic paintbrush to create a monkey to play with. This was the basis for Gary’s second book, Grandpap’s Apprentice and The Magic Paintbrush.
