Glida Bothwell is a former librarian who holds an MA in Applied Behavioral Sciences and a BA in Library Science. She is an actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, and master gardener who served as a court guardian for abused children. Glida lives with her husband and two border collies near Boise, Idaho. This is her debut novel. Her interest in the Oregon Trail began when her father pulled her in a July 4th parade in a Radio-Flyer wagon decorated like a covered wagon. For Abbey's Journey, Glida researched the Oregon Trail extensively, reading diaries of women who traveled in wagons to Oregon with their families. Her novel pays homage to their courage, perseverance, and courage in their journeys to the West.
