Cathy A. Lewis

Cathy A. Lewis is an accomplished author of two novels, the acclaimed The Road We Took-4 Days in Germany 1933, and the sequel, Some Came By Ship-6 Years Later 1939. Some Came By Ship focuses on the ill-fated ship the SS St. Louis, which sought refuge for the 907 German Jews fleeing Nazi Germany. The ship, trying to port, was turned away by Cuba, Canada, and the US. The ship returned to Europe, resulting in 254 passenger deaths in the Holocaust and Auschwitz Concentration Camp. It was the largest failure in US Jewish American policy to date.

Lewis is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. After a successful career as a classically trained Chef, she began writing in 2018, fulfilling her long-held aspiration of becoming a published author. Her passion for writing lies in historical fiction, focusing on reviving overlooked stories from Europe, focusing on Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1939.

Cathy resides in Nashville with friends and her cat, Toute Suite. She enjoys attending Crosswalk Church and watching Syracuse Orange basketball, IndyCar racing, and Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans football. She is an avid fan of the golden age of cinema on Turner Classic Movies. Cathy passionately supports The SS St. Louis Legacy Project Foundation, Jewish Book Council, Nashville Jewish Federation, Samaritan’s Purse, Homes for Our Troops, Save Them All Best Friends Animal Rescue, and other local and national charities.
