Dan Ralph

Dan was motivated to study philosophy in response to several sets of experiences. He grew up in a poor inner-city neighborhood in Philadelphia during the turmoil of the 1960's and 70's, and later spent eight years in the army, ending soon after his service in the Gulf War. Between the two, he lived in Western Pennsylvania long enough to witness the collapse of the industrial economy of the region, and the widespread disenfranchisement that resulted. These experiences led him to become focused on some of the same questions that philosophers have been fascinated by for more than two millennia. The Scorpion's Song represents Dan's first effort to use philosophical fiction as a platform to bring some of these questions to a wider audience.
