Jarrett Dapier

Jarrett Dapier is a children's book author, librarian, and lifelong drummer. His picture books include Mr. Watson's Chickens (NPR Best Book of 2021, Bookpage Best Picture Book of 2021, Junior Library Guild Gold Selection), Jazz for Lunch! (finalist, Ezra Jack Keats Awards for writing and illustration), and The Most Haunted House in America. His upcoming graphic novel, Wake Now in the Fire, is based on a true story of censorship and resistance at a Chicago high school and will be released by Ten Speed Graphic on February 3, 2026 (available now for pre-order). He lives just outside Chicago with his family and their many pets.
