One of the first questions I get asked is; “When did you first start writing?” I always answer, “At primary school when I was five, I still remember trying to spell my own name, thanks Mum & Dad for keeping it simple and not calling me Guillaume!

I began writing stories quite by accident, it was while at junior school and during the school holidays – we did not have computer games in those days. Anyway, other children would regularly go away on holidays but my parents were the ‘conventional’ type, so to entertain myself on those long boring days I would play with my toy soldiers or teddies, yes, I had teddies. Eventually I began writing stories for them to play out, and it graduated to become me just writing stories. So, the other children would come back and tell stories about the seaside and I would present an exercise book with a different story each time.

Eventually the solders and teddies (yes, them again!) had to be put away and I had to ‘grow up’ but I never lost the love of writing. When I discovered FanFiction, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven, but one day my youngest daughter challenged me to write something of my own, like what I used to do as a child, 12 books later I am still finding things to say, I hope that across the different genres that I write that there is something for everyone, you just have to dive in and read.
