On occasion I get asked what was my Inspiration for writing “The Hanging Tree: Still Fighting For Freedom”,and I can’t help but to point out the current state of a lot people in relation to not being recognized for their current struggles to attain the same opportunities as others.
There are many factors that play a vital role in them not being able to follow the same course of actions such as poverty, criminal convictions, bias educational systems, and unfavorable elements within their environments. And while each person is responsible for their own actions, looking at conditions that brought them to the current state , one can understand how they arrived there.
Most often the past conditions leading up to it had a direct correlation to their current state of affairs. In my studies it had not been framed in this perspective.
I also used my own personal accounts and experiences to give readers genuine examples of how the effects of racism, colonization, capitalism, oppression, discrimination, and targeted domestic terrorism were and has devastated most minorities from achieving the best possible outcomes for their lives, and what struggles they were faced with in pursuit of it.
