Emily Strand has taught religion at the collegiate level for more than 15 years. She is author of two books on Catholic sacraments (Liguori, 2013, 2014) and a co-host of the academic Harry Potter podcast Potterversity She has written many essays for the Hogwarts Professor blog, and her essay on the symbolic function of Quidditch appeared in the book Harry Potter for Nerds 2 (Unlocking, 2015). She is a regular presenter at the Chestnut Hill Harry Potter Conference. Her essay “Harry Potter and the Sacramental Principle,” appeared in the October 2019 edition of Worship, and her essay “Dobby the Robot: the Science Fiction in Harry Potter” in the October 2019 edition of Mythlore, both peer-reviewed journals.
