Ingrid Biese

Hi, I’m Ingrid Biese. In 2009 I opted out of a career in consulting to work on a PhD in Sociology. My topic was, you guessed it, opting out. My main topic of research continues to be opting out, sustainable working cultures, career models and alternative solutions for work. Through that, I also research wider issues like globalization, individualization, identity and gender.

I’m an associated researcher at The Swedish School of Social Science at the University of Helsinki, however it is also very important to me to to bring my findings back to the world of work. To that end, I am the founder of The Art Place Finland, a place where I combine all three legs that I stand on. It’s my studio and a place to paint, but also a creative space to talk about work.
