Hal West

Hal West is from the Lowcountry of South Carolina. He was encouraged in the Christian faith by his loving family, grew in his love for Jesus through his church, and discovered his love of writing in elementary school when a poem he wrote in the fourth grade found its way into the local weekly newspaper.

With academic degrees from the University of South Carolina, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Fuller Theological Seminary, Hal began his 40-plus years of pastoral ministry in 1978. After 21 years as Senior Pastor at his home church, he became Founder and President of Compass Coach and Consulting, a ministry to pastors and churches.

Hal is a certified pastoral coach and church consultant with the South Carolina Baptist Convention and a member of the Society for Church Consulting.

A lifelong outdoorsman and hunter, Hal believes God has called each person to be a good steward of all His good gifts of creation and that all Christians are called to be good stewards of His good gifts of grace and good tellers of the Gospel. He is the husband of one amazing woman, the father of two incredible children, and grandfather of four awesome grandchildren. He is the author of three published works.
