Annalou Mack

Annalou Mack’s formative years were spent on a farm in North Missouri during the Great Depression. Her elementary education was received in one-room country schools common during that era. Anna completed college after marriage and the birth of three children in rapid succession.

Academic writing was a necessity during her college days, but in more recent times Anna has turned to creative writing. She has been editor of several newsletters and published in local newspapers, regional publications and one national magazine.

During her Peace Corps tour in Ukraine, Anna’s colleagues asked her to write stories about herself. That compilation was published in Ukraine. After returning home she added to those stories and the book WANDERINGS AND MUSINGS OF A MISSOURI FARM GIRL was published in 2012.

Family stories held great interest to the author who for many years researched her ancestors in gathering info for a family tree. As an avid genealogist in her research she stumbled upon the story of the Meeks Family murders. Since her great grandmother’s maiden name was Meek, she knew she had to follow up on that story.

After reading many articles about this tragedy she decided to write her version of the events of that horrific crime. Since almost nothing had been written about Della, the wife of one of the accused murderers, this became Anna’s mission. The result was COLD BETRAYAL.

The facts of the murder and two trials are as outlined in the sources. The spoken words and thoughts of Della and her family are fictionalized since little was found on which to base them. The same is true of much of what the author wrote of Sheriff Niblo.
