S.E. Palmer

I'm a British author based in the North West, UK. I published my first book, Drifting in a Dream, in 2021, followed by Falling in Flames in 2024 and Breaking for Breath in 2026. I also write and illustrate The Many Tales of Ollie Webs, a children's series following the adventures of a curious little duck.

Despite reading far and wide, young adult and fantasy remain two of my favourite genres to write. I love the flexibility of fantasy and particularly enjoy weaving the extraordinary into our mundane everyday world. Who didn't hope to find Narnia in the back of a wardrobe?

A key inspiration for the Power Wielders series was my own indecisiveness at the end of college and the beginning of adulthood. It's such an interesting time to write about, when you're expected to make decisions about a future you haven't quite figured out yet. Fantasy offers a unique lens through which to explore those very real problems and I enjoy finding where the ordinary and extraordinary clash.

Reading has always been my favourite form of escapism, and writing seemed a natural extension of that – albeit with less relaxation and considerably more stress. Whether I'm writing about supernatural powers and shadow creatures or illustrating the latest adventure of a little duck, I'm determined to share my imagined worlds so that you might escape your real one for a while.

I'm currently working on the fourth book in the Power Wielders series, with more adventures for Ollie Webs also planned. I'm happy to have you along for the ride!
