Michael Emmart

Michael worked in child welfare for nearly 25 years in a variety of roles including direct care staff, counselor, caseworker, supervisor, administrator, trainer, and university-based consultant. He is often sought out as a subject matter expert in support of child welfare, justice involved, and cross-over youth. He is a tireless advocate for positive nonviolence and for understanding its value in our homes and workplaces. He is a founding member of the Institute for Just Outcomes through Conversation (IJOC), currently serving as IJOC's Executive Director, and is Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology at the State University of New York College at Cortland. He lives in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Central New York where he and his bride, Jodi, raised six of the world's most amazing people.
