Jon Amtrup

Jon Amtrup (52) has been sailing and writing for most of his life – and intends to continue. He has sailed up and down the Norwegian coast summer and winter the last 15 years - and written two books about it, crossed the Atlantic twice, circumnavigated Svalbard - and written Sail to Svalbard,, sailed in Greenland, crossed the North Sea 13 times and competed in a number of double-handed and short-handed regattas, both national and international. He has also assisted several high latitude sailing expeditions with advice and weather and routing assistance, and delivered a number of yachts. He has also written the sailing autobiography of HR King Harald of Norway.

Now he runs the podcast about sailing, is a delivery skipper and is an ocean activist.

Jon studied political science, sociology and Eastern European studies at the University of Oslo, journalism in Bodø and PR and management at Norwegian Business School. He has worked as a journalist in newspapers and magazines in Norway, and as a freelancer contributing to SEILmagasinet and various international sailing magazines.

He is a member of The Explorers Club.
