Christopher De Pree

Chris De Pree was born in Hong Kong, and grew up there, in New York City, and in the San Francisco Bay area. He studied Physics and drew a weekly cartoon at Duke University, and received his PhD in Physics from UNC Chapel Hill. During graduate school, he spent two years in Socorro, NM as a graduate student, completing his research on high mass star formation using the Very Large Array (VLA).

After teaching Physics & Astronomy at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA for 25 years, Chris joined the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) as the Director of the National Radio Dynamic Zone (NRDZ) Project. In case you are wondering, NRDZ is in fact pronounced "nerds".

Chris loves to share his excitement about astronomy and physics with the widest audience possible, and has written a number of popular science books. He also enjoys reading and writing speculative fiction.
